Photo Facials

IPL Photofacial (aka Fotofacial or photo facial) is like a boost of energy to your epidermis.

Photo Facial Treatments were developed and first introduced by Board-Certified Dermatologist, Patrick Bitter Jr. MD as a non-invasive method of photo rejuvenation to improve the appearance of the skin with no downtime. Photo Facial (IPL) is now the gold standard of non-ablative skin treatments. Cape Cod Skin Care was among the first to be trained by Patrick Bitter Jr. MD. and Steven Mulholland M.D.

IPL Photo Facial – Rosacea

Photo Facial is a term for a light-based skin resurfacing treatment which is mostly used to treat brown spots, broken capillaries and to boost collagen.

Photo Facial treatment penetrates your skin on the deepest levels causing your body to produce new collagen, thus creating healthier and smoother skin.  Photo Facials are safe for the face, hands, or any other body area.  IPL Photo facial is particularly suited for treating rosacea, sun-damaged skin, large pores, age spots, facial veins, and wrinkles.

Most patients undergo a series of 5 to 8 half-hour treatments with about 3 weeks between each treatment. After the first Photo Facial treatment, the skin will already feel smoother. Like other laser-based procedures, IPL Photo facial’s light beam typically feels like a rubber band snapping against the skin. After treatments discomfort is reported as either very mild or nonexistent.

Are there any possible side effects?

IPL Photo Facial – Chest

Your skin will be red or flushed for a few hours. This is very normal. Mild swelling can occur but is usually improved with ice applications. Immediately following treatment, the skin may appear flushed, brown pigmented spots may appear darker, and capillaries may be more visible. In rare instances, temporary swelling and/or blistering can occur.

Who is NOT a good candidate for IPL?

Darker complexions, tanned skin, spray tans or recently tanned skin individuals are generally not good candidates for the treatment. Men who wish to have facial treatments should note the beard /mustache area can have patchy hair loss after a session, so they may not want to treat this area where regular facial hair grows.

IPL Photo Facial – Acne Scars

IPL Photofacial is a low-risk non-surgical procedure with clinical results. Treatment varies based on your skin type, what condition you are treating and the results you want.

A Photofacial package can rejuvenate your skin and make you feel years younger.
